Biography

Eddie Kane was an actor who had a successful Hollywood career. Kane kickstarted his acting career in various films such as "Illusion" (1929), "Why Bring That Up?" (1929) and the musical "The Broadway Melody" (1929) with Anita Page. He also appeared in the musical "Puttin' on the Ritz" (1930) with Harry Richman, "Goldie" (1931) with Spencer Tracy and "The Public Enemy" (1931) with James Cagney. He kept working in film throughout the thirties, starring in the Buck Jones western "The Thrill Hunter" (1933), the comedy "It Happened One Night" (1934) with Clark Gable and the Mary Carlisle adaptation "The Old Homestead" (1935). He also appeared in the William Powell comedy "My Man Godfrey" (1936). Film continued to be his passion as he played roles in the Joe E Brown drama "The Gladiator" (1938), "Mr. Boggs Steps Out" (1938) and "Music in My Heart" (1940). He also appeared in the Alice Faye musical comedy "The Great American Broadcast" (1941) and the musical "Is Everybody Happy?" (1943) with Ted Lewis. Kane was most recently credited in the Eddie Murphy box office smash comedic fantasy "Dr. Dolittle" (1998). Kane passed away in April 1969 at the age of 80.
