Synopsis

A young woman becomes the head of a textile plant after her father dies. She refuses to continue his practice of paying racketeers for "protection" against bombings, despite the urging of her board of directors. The racketeers have infiltrated the company and are responsible for a number of subsequent "accidents" and bombings. The attorney for the company warns the owner that the business is being ruined because of her reluctance to give in, but she remains firm. The woman enlists the aid of various local newspapers in her fight and meets a reporter assigned to cover the bombings. Because of her interest in the reporter, she stops dressing dowdily and transforms herself through fluffy attire into someone he is charmed by. They fall in love, and the reporter joins the company to obtain information to prove that the racketeers were behind the bombings. A female former member of the gang, who has just been released from prison, gives the name of the leader for a price, and the owner learns that the leader is her attorney. Through a third-degree in a jail cell applied to the sweetheart of the female former member, the owner and the reporter gain enough evidence for the police to use to arrest the leader and round up the gang. At the end, the business runs peacefully, and the owner and the reporter are united.
