Biography
Frank Welker is a first-call voice actor whose resume is a long list of cartoons and animated features ranging from all-time classics such as "Scooby Doo, Where Are You!" and "The Smurfs" to virtual unknowns like "Partridge Family 2200 AD" and "The Robonic Stooges." He started off in the '60s on camera, appearing on TV comedy shows like "Laugh In," "Love American Style," and "The Smothers Brothers Show," and in two Disney live-action features- " The Computer Wore Tennis Shoes" and "Now You See Him, Now You Don't." He has been the voice of Fred on "Scooby Doo" since the show originally aired in 1969. He has also voiced the role of Scooby since 2002. Besides "Scooby Doo" and "The Smurfs" Welker has been involved in a number of Hanna-Barbera cartoons including "Super Friends," "Jabberjaw," and "Pac-Man." He later worked on another animated classic, "Transformers," voicing several of the Decepticon characters. While best known for his work in the '70s and '80s, Welker has maintained modern relevance, lending his skills to "The Simpsons" and "South Park." He returned to live-action performance in 2009 with a role in Steven Soderbergh's "The Informant!." Ever the Hollywood working man, Welker also performs voiceovers in live-action formats; he was the voice of Stripe in "The Gremlins" and Grimace in McDonald's commercials.
