Movie Clip

Maltese Falcon, The (1941) -- (Movie Clip) A Guy Named Thursby Summoned from his bed at 2 a.m., San Francisco private eye Sam Spade (Humphrey Bogart), with thus far friendly copper Polhaus (Ward Bond), at the scene of the murder of his partner Archer, written and directed by John Huston from the Dashiell Hammett novel, in The Maltese Falcon, 1941.
Searchers, The (1956) -- (Movie Clip) Let's Go Home Significant SPOILER here in a landmark picture, Natalie Wood as the mature Debbie is rescued from five years captivity by her adoptive brother Marty (Jeffrey Hunter) from the Comanche chief Scar (Henry Brandon), as his partner Ethan (John Wayne), leading an attack with Rev. Clayton (Ward Bond), appears determined to execute her, in John Ford’s The Searchers, 1956.
3 Godfathers (1948) -- (Movie Clip) By The Way Of New Jerusalem We’ve just met Hightower, Fuerte and Kearny (John Wayne, Pedro Armendariz, Harry Carey Jr.) and heard of their plan to rob the bank in an Arizona town, and they ride in for a funny (if grossly sexist) visit with Ward Bond and Mae Marsh as the Sweets, early in John Ford’s sentimental re-make, 3 Godfathers, 1948.
Mister Roberts (1955) -- (Movie Clip) Disharmony Aboard This Ship Henry Fonda, who won the Tony on Broadway in the same title role, takes a startling, indecent dressing down from James Cagney (the always-nameless “Captain,”), standing up for his crew (Ken Curtis et al) and his right to seek a transfer, in Mister Roberts, 1955, from Joshua Logan’s play, from the book by Thomas Heggen.
Black Fury (1935) -- (Movie Clip) Old Country Dance At the Pennsylvania coal mine company town, proud “bohunk” miner Joe (Paul Muni) leads his party, including pal Mike (John Qualen) and his maybe-wavering fianceè Anna (Karen Morley), into the dance, even greeting the company cops (Ward Bond, and William Gargan as Slim), in Warner Bros.’ controversial Black Fury, 1935.
Kit Carson (1940) -- (Movie Clip) Horizon Fever Efficient framing and opening from screenwriter George Bruce and director George B. Seitz, introducing Jon Hall as the title character, Ward Bond his man “Ape” and Harold Huber as Lopez, expressing attitudes both wise and nasty, then cracking action as the Shoshone attack, in independent producer Edward Small’s Kit Carson, 1940.
Kit Carson (1940) -- (Movie Clip) They'd Kinda Like Them Brass Buttons Clever scene by director George Seitz, Raymond Hatton (said to have appeared in 500 movies) as host Bridger advises bathing Jon Hall (title character) and crew (Ward Bond, Harold Huber) about the offer from Fremont (Dana Andrews as the historical character) and Terry (“Lone Ranger” Clayton Moore), Lynn Bari in the neighboring tub, in producer Edward Small’s Kit Carson, 1940.
Kit Carson (1940) -- (Movie Clip) Don't Hurry So Fast Producer Edward Small getting his money’s worth in Monument Valley (even if the story takes place along the distant Oregon Trail), Dana Andrews as (historical figure) Captain Fremont wants to hurry the wagon train, civilian Clayton Moore obeying until Jon Hall (title character) and his team (Ward Bond, Harold Huber) show up to take the trail guide jobs they at first refused, Lynn Bari the affronted Miss Murphy, in Kit Carson, 1940.
Fugitive, The (1947) -- (Movie Clip) First Told In The Bible Opening narration by Ward Bond, John Ford directing from Dudley Nichols’ sanitized adaptation of Graham Greene’s novel, Henry Fonda the title character, with Dolores Del Rio, clear from the start that Ford’s chief interest is Gabriel Figueroa’s virtuosic cinematography, from The Fugitive, 1947.
Operation Pacific (1951) -- (Movie Clip) The Entire Silent Service Opening with foreword, as John Wayne is Navy commander “Duke” Gifford, on shore rescuing children and nuns from a Pacific island, Martin Milner, Jack Pennick among his submarine crew, in Operation Pacific, 1951, co-starring Patricia Neal.
Operation Pacific (1951) -- (Movie Clip) I've Been Numb For Four Years Now ashore at Pearl Harbor, John Wayne as submarine officer "Duke" Gifford is interrupted by head nurse Katherine Givney as he tries to visit a baby he helped rescue, then meets his ex-wife (Patricia Neal as Mary), now a nurse, with whom he lost a son before their divorce, in Operation Pacific, 1951.
Wagon Master (1950) -- (Movie Clip) They Was Invited Out The Mormon wagon train led by Elder Wiggs (Ward Bond) finds common cause with the members of a bereft medicine show (Joanne Dru, Alan Mowbray, Ruth Clifford), Travis (Ben Johnson) and Sister Ledyard (Jane Darwell) adding opinions, in John Ford's Wagon Master, 1950.
