Synopsis

Rancher Cal Pierson is being double-crossed by his foreman, Ranse, who has hired a doctor to attend to Pierson and has instructed him to make sure that the rancher will not recover from his illness. While Pierson is incapacitated, Ranse threatens the neighboring ranchers with heavy tolls to drive their cattle through the pass on Pierson's property. A masked man retaliates for the cattlemen, causing trouble for Ranse and his gang. Consequently, Ranse hires Jim, a dim-witted peddler as a spy to identify the masked hero. Alice, Pierson's nurse, discovers Ranse's plot and begins to suspect that the peddler and the masked man are the same man. The ranchers plan to stampede the pass, but Ranse's partner, Dalson, advises Ranse to plan an ambush. The mystery rider gets to the pass ahead of the cattle and starts a landslide above Ranse and his men. After the masked man captures Ranse, he reveals himself to Alice, and confirms her suspicions that he is Ken Martin, an agent of the Cattlemen's Association, and was sent to help the ranchers.
