Synopsis

Ranger Jim Houston and his wounded brother Bob capture the notorious Tonto Kid. The chief Ranger then sends the brothers after Cougar, a border bandit. During a bank robbery, Cougar kills Bob, and Jim and his fellow Ranger, Thunder, take leave of the Rangers to pursue the bandit on their own. Jim adopts the identity of the Tonto Kid and follows Cougar to his hideout on the other side of the Mexican border. Tonita, a dancer at the cantina, recognizes Jim but, because she has fallen in love with him, does not reveal his true identity. Dave, one of Cougar's henchmen, is suspicious of Jim, however. Later, at a dance, Dave and Jim quarrel. To resolve their quarrel, they engage in a boxing match, which Jim wins. Thunder warns Jim that Dave and his cohorts will seek revenge. Dave follows Thunder to the Ranger station, but Jim intercepts him and ties him so that he cannot warn his gang. Meanwhile, Thunder and the Rangers prepare for battle, and Jim leads the Cougar gang into an ambush. The entire gang, except Cougar, is caught. Jim pursues him into Mexico, where with the help of Tonita and Pegleg Barnes, Jim finally avenges his brothers death and shoots Cougar.
