Biography

Miburn Stone is renowned for his decades-spanning role as Doc Adams on the classic Western TV series "Gunsmoke." Stone began his career during the Hollywood heyday of the 1930s, appearing in dozens of films. In the 1940s, he began to win more prominent roles, with notable turns in the war drama "Gung Ho!" and the musical "I'll Remember April." He later starred in the secret-agent serial "The Master Key." His signature role as Doc Adams started in 1955, and the series ran for a remarkable 20 years, with Stone only absent from a handful of episodes. He retired from acting following the show's finale in 1975.
