Synopsis

Richard "Sully" Sullivan, an investigator for the Treasury Department, suspects that the Luggage Goods Company is a front for a gang that is smuggling jewels from Europe. To prove his suspicions, Sullivan's assistant and sweetheart, Joan Martin, infiltrates the firm as secretary to company president Mr. Harrison. The company sponsors slogan contests in which the winners are awarded a set of luggage and a trip to Europe, and the agents suspect that the jewels are being secreted in specially constructed compartments of the luggage. At the office, Joan unwittingly meets Massey, the brains behind the operation, who, posing as the wealthy Roy Allen, asks her for a date. Meanwhile, Sullivan is on the brink of cracking the ring when agent John Beebe takes the place of one of the winners, but then mysteriously disappears at sea. When the Trasatania , the boat on which Johnny was to have sailed, docks in New York, Sullivan searches the winners' luggage, and although he discovers the secret compartments, the suitcases are all empty. Upon docking, Harrison's henchman, Lawrence Kearns, notifies his superiors that he found a radiogram in Johnny's luggage, warning the agent that his identity had been uncovered. Because only Joan knew of their plans to eliminate Johnny, the smugglers realize that she is a government agent and plan to kill her after a party that night aboard the Transatania . During the party, Kearns plants some diamonds in Joan's wrap, after which she is called away to meet Harrison's mysterious boss Massey. Arriving at Massey's apartment, Joan is shocked to discover that Massey is Roy Allen. After recovering the diamonds from her wrap, Massey tells Joan that he knows she is an operative and begs her to flee the country with him because he has fallen in love with her. Joan refuses, and just as Kearns is about to kill her, Sullivan, who has followed Harrison to Massey's apartment, breaks in and after a dramatic gun fight, rescues Joan and brings the smugglers to justice.
