Biography
Jimmy Wakely was an actor who had a successful Hollywood career. Wakely began his acting career appearing in various films, such as "Twilight on the Trail" (1941), the Johnny Mack Brown western "Deep in the Heart of Texas" (1942) and "Heart of the Rio Grande" (1942). Wakely also contributed music to "Cheyenne Roundup" (1943). He kept working in film throughout the forties, starring in "Cowboy in the Clouds" (1943), "The Lone Star Trail" (1943) and "Cowboy Canteen" (1944) with Charles Starrett. He also appeared in "I'm From Arkansas" (1944). Nearing the end of his career, he tackled roles in "Ridin' Down the Trail" (1947), "Silver Trails" (1948) and the adaptation "Arrow in the Dust" (1954) with Sterling Hayden. Wakely's music was most recently used in the Joaquin Phoenix crime drama "Clay Pigeons" (1998). Wakely also contributed music to the action movie "Mars Attacks!" (1996) with Jack Nicholson. Wakely passed away in September 1982 at the age of 68.
