Philip Akin was an actor who had a successful Hollywood career. Akin began his acting career with roles in such films as the comedy "Gas" (1981) with Donald Sutherland, the Timothy Hutton drama "Iceman" (1984) and the Bruce Fairbairn action film "Nightstick" (1987). He also appeared in "Nowhere to Hide" (1987) with Amy Madigan, "Blue Monkey" (1987) and the comedy adaptation "Switching Channels" (1988) with Kathleen Turner. He continued to act in productions like the comedic adventure "The Stupids" (1996) with Tom Arnold, the dramatic adventure "Fly Away Home" (1996) with Jeff Daniels and "Woo" (1998) starring Jada Pinkett Smith. He also appeared in "One Tough Cop" (1998) with Stephen Baldwin. In his more recent career, he continued to act in the Ben Affleck box office smash action flick "The Sum of All Fears" (2002), "Cube 2: Hypercube" (2003) with Lindsey Connell and the Mandy Moore dramatic adaptation "How to Deal" (2003). He also appeared in the Hilary Duff romantic comedy "The Perfect Man" (2005) and "Get Rich or Die Tryin'" (2005). Most recently, Akin appeared in "The Book Of Negroes" (2014-15).
