Synopsis

Just as Inspector Paul Fein's lifelong ambition to become chief of police is attainable, circumstances cause his promotion to slip out of reach. Paul is in a meeting with the current chief of police to discuss the murders of multi-millionaire Phillip Chandler and his wife, as well as Paul's possible succession into the role of chief, when the chief dies in a hail of bullets. Paul and son Ben investigate the multiple murders and find a scheme of money laundering and police corruption. Meanwhile at home, Paul must grapple with the strife brewing within his family, which includes police officer sons Ben and Eddie, free-spirited Jackie and public defender Kate, who is pregnant by a man she no longer loves.
