Biography

Best known in the United States for his supporting turn as a pilot on the updated "Battlestar Galactica" series, Canadian actor Sebastian Spence has had bigger roles in Canada-based TV and film productions. Born to an actress/writer mother and playwright father, Spence grew into the dramatic arts naturally, acting in local theatrical productions before his first feature role in the controversial story of the aftermath of sexual abuse at a Catholic orphanage, "The Boys of St. Vincent: 15 Years Later." He also made guest appearances on various TV shows, including "The Outer Limits" and "The X-Files." Though "Fast Track," a series about stock car racing would survive only a single season, Spence next landed a leading role on the aliens-among-us drama "First Wave," which ran for three years. More TV one-offs followed, as well as a recurring part as a professor on the teen drama "Dawson's Creek." For the TV movie "Third Man Out," Spence played the lawyer husband of a gay detective, and reprised the role for three additional films. Aboard "Battlestar Galactica," he appeared periodically as an occasionally traitorous soldier of the fleet. More prominently, Spence had the lead in the organized-crime feature "Dress to Kill," earning critical acclaim for his portrayal of the son of a dying mobster.
