Biography
Frank Cordell boasts musical talents that have been featured in a variety of Hollywood productions. Cordell's career in acting began with his roles in various films like "Geronimo" (1939), the Robert Preston action movie "The Sundowners" (1950) and the drama "Run For Cover" (1955) with James Cagney. He also appeared in the James Stewart western "The Man From Laramie" (1955), "Pardners" (1956) and the western "The Tin Star" (1957) with Henry Fonda. In the sixties, Cordell's music continued to appear on the silver screen, including in films like the comedy "The Rebel" (1961) with Tony Hancock, the Yul Brynner action picture "Flight From Ashiya" (1964) and the Pat Boone comedy "Never Put It in Writing" (1964). His work was also in the action film "Khartoum" (1966) with Charlton Heston and "Hell Boats" (1969). Cordell's music was also featured in "Project Z" (1969). Cordell was nominated for a Golden Globe Award for "Cromwell" in 1970. He followed this recognition writing music for "A Choice of Weapons" (1976) with John Mills and "God Told Me To" (1976) with Tony Lo Bianco. Cordell most recently appeared on the Richard Hamilton documentary "Fathers of Pop" (1979).
