Synopsis
After robbing a bank, double-crossing her gang and hiding the stolen money, ex-convict Daisy Saunders allows herself to be arrested in order to protect herself from gang leader Barney Morse and the other angry gangsters. Daisy is sent to the Women's State Prison, which is run by warden Martha Wilson, who is approached by Morse and offered a deal to get Daisy paroled so that he can get his money back. Martha rejects his offer, but as Morse is leaving, he meets Ann, Martha's daughter, whom he later decides to kidnap and have framed for manslaughter. Morse succeeds in getting Ann convicted and sentenced to ten years at the women's prison, where she shares a cell with Daisy, who is sympathetic to her plight. Together, Ann and Daisy plan an escape so that they can clear Ann of the charges. Following Ann and Daisy's prison break, the two go to Daisy's apartment, only to find Morse, who has learned of their escape, awaiting their arrival. When Daisy and Jerry try to flee from Morse, they are shot dead, leaving Ann, whom Daisy told where loot is hidden, as the gangsters' only link to the money. Ann manages to escape from Morse long enough to telephone her fiancé, Bob Wayne, with instructions to have the District Attorney dispatched to Morse's office. Ann then approaches Morse and offers to tell him where the money is if he has her cleared of the manslaughter charge. He agrees, but as soon as Ann takes Morse to the site of the hidden loot, he tries to kill her. She is saved by the arrival of Bob and the police. Morse is shot as he attempts to escape, but manages to tell the authorities that Ann is innocent as he lays dying.
