Synopsis
In London, working-class youths Stan Coulter, Barney Lee, Billy Herne, and Ginger Thompson are accused of murdering an elderly garage attendant and stealing 15 shillings from his cash box. During their trial at the Old Bailey, prosecution attorney Victor Webster calls numerous witnesses who describe the teenagers as reckless Teddy boys who planned the robbery, a factor that makes the offense capital. Defense counsel Lewis Montgomery in turn provides persuasive arguments that conflict with the views of the Crown witnesses. Webster, himself beginning to doubt the boys' guilt, traps Stan into a confession. Stan receives the death sentence; juveniles Barney and Billy are convicted as accomplices; and Ginger is acquitted.
