Biography
British-born Evelyn Laye was an accomplished actress who appeared in many Hollywood films throughout her Hollywood career. In 1918, she made her West End debut in "The Beauty Spot." In 1992, she made a farewell tour in Britain. In 1929, she played the lead in "Bitter Sweet," singing "I'll See You Again," which became her signature. Laye began her career with a role in "Blood Fiend" (1967) with Christopher Lee. She went on to act in the comedy "Say Hello to Yesterday" (1970) with Jean Simmons. Later in her career, Laye appeared in "The Woman He Loved" (CBS, 1987-88). Laye was married to Frank Lawton. Laye passed away in February 1996 at the age of 96.
