Synopsis
A series of murders bearing signs of vampirism are committed in Paris during the staging of Philippe Darvas' macabre productions at the Theatre of Death. Inspector Micheaud is aided in his investigation of the blood-drinking murders by a young surgeon, Charles Marquis, whose girl friend, Dani Gireaux, is an actress at the theater. Charles becomes increasingly suspicious of the sinister-looking Darvas, particularly after he watches Darvas hypnotize Dani's roommate, Nicole, at a party, and she appears to be subservient to his will. However, Charles's hypothesis is disproved when Darvas is murdered, and the bizarre killings continue. Dani later finds an unfinished play by Darvas in which he reveals Nicole as a necrophiliac whose vampirism originated in her infancy, when she was kept alive by draughts of human blood. Nicole confronts Dani underneath the stage of the Theatre of Death during the performance of a voodoo dance. Nicole is accidentally killed by a spear plunged through the floorboards, and Dani is saved.
