Synopsis
Bill Lefty, the two-fisted owner of a saloon on the turgid Mississippi, proposes to The Duchess, a beautiful barroom hostess; she can't get her mind off stoker Jim Henderson, however, and puts Bill off. Jim comes to Bill's saloon and delights the crowd with his piano playing. There is a brawl, and Jim and Bill fight side by side, cleaning up Mulatto Mike's gang. The river floods, and Bill finds that The Duchess is in love with Jim and relinquishes his claim on her. The Duchess and Jim escape from the rising waters in a small boat, and Bill dies in his saloon.
