Synopsis

Jane Miller, a cashier for ladies clothing store Katz & Katz, is a plain-looking, retiring girl who does not know how to dress. After a fellow worker invites her to the Follies and persuades her to borrow a gown from the store, Jane is seen at the theater by Mr. Katz, who recognizes the dress and fires her. Morgan Grant, her friend's sweetheart, then asks his friend Martel to hire Jane as a model at the salan of couturier La Salle Frères. When the famous French model Mademoiselle Lucette, who is scheduled to appear in a fashion show, is not able to attend, Jane is forced to substitute for her. To hide her ignorance of French, Jane is told to respond "no" to whatever is said to her. Bob Richmond, son of the owner of La Salle Frères, becomes infatuated with her, but to no avail. Grant also makes unsuccessful advances to her. Bob discovers her imposture and calls her a fraud, but after explanations, they acknowledge their love for one another.
