Synopsis
The Diablo , a pirate ship commissioned to serve with the Spanish Armada, leaves the Armada when it is defeated by Drake, and Captain Robeles sails the crippled Diablo into Cornwall. Jane, a local girl, is taken prisoner before she can tell the villagers of the Spanish defeat. Robeles convinces the villagers that Drake was defeated, and he and his pirates take over the town. Jane escapes with the help of her brother, Harry, but Robeles hangs their father. Manuel, one of Robeles' men, goes over to the side of the villagers when he finds that the pirates do not intend to return to Spain and, instead, will return to piracy once the ship has been mended. Robeles kills both Manuel and Sir Basil Smeeton, the local Lord of the Manor, in duels. But thanks to Manuel's earlier help, the Diablo and her crew are blown up as they leave port, and Harry is reunited with Angela, his sweetheart, who had been a pirate hostage.
