Biography

English actress Jacqueline Pearce is best known, especially to science fiction and horror fans, for her role as the villainous Servalan in the cult British program "Blake's 7" and for two horror movies in which she appeared. As a child educated by Catholic nuns, she desired to be a ballerina. But an interest in acting swayed her from dreams of dancing. She would go on to study at the Lee Strasberg Actors Studio in Los Angeles. In 1966, she co-starred in two horror movies of the mid '60s, " The Plague of the Zombies" and "The Reptile." In the former, she had only a small part, but in the latter picture she landed a juicy role as the lovely Anna, the daughter of Dr. Franklin, who is doomed with an ancient curse that turns her into the title creature every winter. Her most well-known role, though, was on Terry Nation's science fiction program "Blake's 7," playing the sociopath head of the fascistic Terran Federation. She appeared in an even more beloved British television show, "Doctor Who," in the 1985 series "The Two Doctors," as the alien Chessene. She also had parts in the feature films "How to Get Ahead in Advertising," "White Mischief," and "Princess Caraboo."
