Synopsis
After his latest get-rich-quick scheme fails, George Lester, an American living in London, is threatened with divorce by his British wife, Pamela. In a misguided attempt to demonstrate that he is willing to settle down, George converts his wife's country manor house into a Chinese discotheque while she is abroad. She returns with a pompous suitor, Dudley Heath, and demands that her home be restored, so George rekindles his friendship with H. William Homer, a notorious con man. Together, they concoct a scheme to steal Dudley's blueprints for a high-speed electronic oil drill and sell them to some Arabs. All goes well until George catches the mumps and is unable to transport the plans to Homer in Lisbon. Desperate, George devises a means of hiding the microfilmed blueprints in the teeth of unsuspecting airline steward Fred Davies. Homer contacts Lisbon dentist Dr. Pinto to extract the blueprints, but Pinto doublecrosses them. George then flies to Lisbon, followed by a suspicious Pamela. Once there, George grabs the plans and, after a series of chases, he arrives safely at the airport. Only when he is finally aboard a London-bound plane does Pamela tell George that Dudley's electronic drill is defective. Admitting defeat, George agrees to give up his wild ideas and live a peaceful life--until Homer shows up with a fool-proof, get-rich-quick idea.
