Biography
Richard Markowitz brought his musical talents to a variety of films over the course of his Hollywood career. Markowitz began his entertainment career with his music featured in films like the thriller "The Young Captives" (1958) with Steven Marlo, the crime feature "Stakeout on Dope Street" (1958) with Yale Wesler and the action movie "Road Racers" (1959) with Joel Lawrence. His music also appeared in "The Hoodlum Priest" (1961) with Don Murray, "The Magic Sword" (1962) with Basil Rathbone and the Rory Calhoun drama "A Face in the Rain" (1963). His music also appeared in the Cliff Potts western "Face to the Wind" (1972). Throughout His career, Markowitz's music appeared on TV shows like "Operation: Runaway" (NBC, 1977-78). Most recently, Markowitz worked on "Rest in Peace, Mrs. Columbo" (ABC, 1989-1990). Markowitz had zero children. Markowitz was nominated for an Outstanding Achievement In Main Title Theme Music Primetime Emmy Award for "The Law and Harry McGraw" in 1988. Markowitz passed away in December 1994 at the age of 68.
