Synopsis

Ted Haley arrives at the ranch house of his brother moments before his brother dies of a knife wound. With his final breath, Ted's brother utters the name of his killer, Sol Rothert, and Ted, who is unfamiliar with the locals in the small town, sends the information along to the sheriff. After leaving the ranch house, Ted does not get far before he sees someone approaching the house on horseback and returns. There, a gun battle ensues between Ted and Rothert's visiting niece, Adele Roberts, until she flees. A mysterious man who has been spying on Ted and Adele is seen hurrying toward her uncle's ranch, intent on getting there before she does. Meanwhile, Ted, determined to avenge his brother's death, rides into town, where a fight between he and two thugs, Moose Nelson and Ike Britt, nearly begins. The sheriff arrives in time to prevent the fight, and after listening to Ted's story, the sheriff tells him that the murderer could not possibly have been Rothert because he has been confined to a wheelchair for years. At the Rothert ranch, the man who had earlier been spying on Adele apprises Rothert of the gun battle at the Haley house, and Rothert reacts by vowing to send his niece back East. When Ted learns that Rothert has been interested in buying the Haley ranch, he accuses him of murdering his brother. Rothert, however, displays his incapacitated condition and casually brushes off the accusation. One night, Rothert's men attempt to kill Ted, but he escapes and follows them to the town bank, which they plan to hold up. At the bank, Ted fights Moose and Ike and turns them over to the sheriff. While Ted forms a posse, Moose and Ike reveal to the sheriff that they are undercover officers working for the Cattlemen's Protective Association. After Adele learns that her uncle is the leader of the thugs, Ted confronts Rothert at his ranch, where he discovers that his supposed disability is a ruse. Rothert attacks Ted, but Ike and Moose arrive in time to save him and kill Rothert. When the posse arrives, all the remaining bandits are captured.
