Synopsis

A London businessman plans to steal the crown jewels from the Tower of London by abducting the watchman in charge and replacing him with an escaped convict who is his double. The plot works smoothly, including the businessman's planned double-cross of the convict, whom he sends with a set of fake jewels to a freighter which has a bomb set to explode before it reaches Amsterdam. The businessman's secretary alerts the police, however, and the plot is thwarted when the businessman is arrested, the convict is shot, and the Tower guard regains possession of the real gems.

Trivia

International politics weighed heavily on the production of this movie, filmed at the height of the Cold War, and so to lighten the tension in the movie the German producers insisted on the inclusion of a comic German tourist, played by Eddi Arent.
