Synopsis

Elsie, a popular English actress, falls in love with John, a young nobleman, who takes her to visit his family's estate, where his relatives hope she will be sufficently bored to give him up. Instead, her freshness soon invigorates the staid family members, and a secret affair develops between Elsie and Edward, the prospective bridegroom's cousin. When Elsie discovers that Edward is having an affair with a married woman, he declares he will give her up; however, when the woman's husband dies in Paris, Elsie, having been released from her betrothal to John, induces Edward to join the widow. She herself returns to the stage.
