Synopsis

Upon discovering a murdered girl with fang marks on her neck, the farmers of Kleinenberg set Count Dracula's castle ablaze in the hope of destroying the dreaded vampire. When they return to the village, however, they discover that giant vampire bats have killed all the women and children who were left behind in the church. Some time later, Paul, a rakish youth, flees from the bed of Alice, the burgomaster's daughter, when her father returns unexpectedly. Escaping into the night, Paul stops at his girl friend Sarah's birthday party, but is once again obliged to run off when the burgomaster's officers catch up with him. Wandering along a country road, Paul climbs into an abandoned black coach, falls asleep, and awakens to find himself in the presence of Tania, a seductive vampire who lures him to the ruined castle. When Count Dracula offers him a bed, Paul is too exhausted to refuse. During the night Tania joins him. When Paul awakens the next morning, he finds Dracula stabbing her to death. Eventually, Sarah and Paul's brother, Simon, trace him to the castle and are persuaded to stay the night, though the Count denies having seen Paul. Although Simon discovers that his brother is somewhere in the castle, Dracula's crippled servant, Klove, advises him to take Sarah away. Having sequestered Sarah in a church, Simon returns to the castle and finds his brother's mutilated corpse in Dracula's crypt. When the pastor is slashed to death by a horde of bats which invades the church, Sarah rushes back to the castle and joins Simon in a final confrontation with the Count. After killing Klove for his intrusion, Dracula is about to impale the young lovers when a bolt of lightning strikes. Consumed by fire, the Count falls from a castle turret.
