Synopsis

"Lucky" Lawton, a superstitious cowboy who made fortune and fame from a gold mine, is forced to delay his marriage to steel heiress Barbara Wayne because Parisian records show she is still officially married to the Count George de Remi. While Barbara processes the divorce in Paris, Lucky stays at a castle in the Balkans he that rented for their honeymoon, which is surrounded by eighty miles of roses. Manya, the local rose queen, forcibly moves into the castle for one week as part of her honorarium. Ebullient and childlike, Manya falls in love with Lucky in spite of his indifference, thus causing havoc in the castle. Manya sabotages Lucky's car while he drives to meet Barbara'a train, leaving them stranded. Lucky and Manya find shelter in a hut from a storm, and during the night, Lucky promises to be her date for the rose festival. Upon their return to the castle, Lucky is confronted with an angry Barbara and realizes he cannot keep his promise. Before she leaves, Manya drugs Barbara's drink with a potent local liquor. Barbara and Lucky then drink some and collapse. Lucky awakens in time to attend the festival, but after Manya confesses her love for him, he leaves immediately for Paris with Barbara. Manya then becomes the laughing stock of her village and plans to marry the lascivious and greedy Peter Karloca. When Lucky receives the news, he leaves his own wedding and, to her delight, takes Manya away from hers.
