The Outlaw Stallion

When a group of horse thieves attempts to corral a large herd of wild horses led by a powerful white stallion, the animals stampede, nearly trampling Mary Saunders and her young son Danny, who are out riding. Hagen, the leader of the thieves, convinces Mary that he and his men are ranchers looking for property in the area, and Mary invites the men to her small ranch for dinner. Danny, enthralled by the white stallion, warms to Hagen's stories about the rodeo circuit. Despite Hagen's friendliness, Mary's boyfriend, veterinarian Doc Woodrow, remains suspicious of Hagen. Mary asks Doc not to encourage Danny's enthusiasm for the white stallion, as his father was killed by a wild horse, but Doc insists Danny's fondness for the animal is healthy. The following day, Hagen's black stallion Amigo is brought to Hagen's ranch and sends him into the hills to help the men lure the herd to their corral. The white stallion challenges Amigo and the horses engage in a vicious fight before Hagen whistles Amigo away. The white stallion is captured by two of Hagen's men, allowing Amigo to lead the herd to Hagen's corral. Hagen orders one man, Martin, to subdue the excitable stallion. Out riding his horse Lady in the hills, Danny hears the stallion struggling with Martin and finds Martin beating the animal with a stick and rock while trying to tie him to a tree. The white stallion resists and in the struggle, Martin is caught in the rope and pulled tight against the tree, where he strangles. When Danny attempts to cut the rope, the white stallion intervenes until Martin is dead. The horse breaks free and bolts, but soon falls into a bog of quicksand until Danny pulls him out. Grateful and exhausted, the white stallion allows himself to be led back to the Saunders' ranch. Hagen and his men find Martin dead and begin searching for the white stallion. Back at Hagen's, one of the men attempts to tend Amigo's wounds and provokes the horse to run off. Amigo spots Danny and the white stallion and follows them to the ranch, where Hagen has just arrived. The horses resume their furious battle, until the white stallion kills Amigo, to Mary's horror. Although now determined to own the white stallion, Hagen assures Danny he can have the horse. Mary protests, but Hagen promises to break the horse before allowing Danny near it. When Mary tells Doc about the plan later, Doc approves, angering Mary, who declares she can never marry him as long as he continues to side with Danny's wants over hers. Doc eventually convinces Mary that the white stallion will not endanger Danny, but the next day, while Hagen works on breaking the white stallion, Danny cannot resist watching and is accidentally knocked down by the large horse. Mary then demands that Hagen take the horse away, ignoring Danny's protests. When Doc arrives and sides with Danny, Mary orders him off the property as well. That night Danny runs away and rides to Hagen's, where he asks to remain with the white stallion. Hagen, who has been opposing his men's request to move the wild herd across the border immediately, initially tries to convince Danny to return home, then upon reconsideration, decides to kidnap him. When Danny spots the wild herd, he realizes that the men are thieves, but is hastily bound and placed in a pickup by Hagen's men. Meanwhile, Mary discovers Danny's absence and goes after him on horseback. The following morning Doc arrives at the Saunders ranch to find Sheriff Fred Plummer and several deputies, who report that several horse trailers were spotted driving up and back from the hills late in the night. When Fred informs Doc that Mary and Danny are missing, he suspects Hagen's involvement and after informing Fred, drives off in search of them. At Hagen's, Mary has also been captured and when one of the men refuses further involvement, Hagen shoots him dead. Hagen announces that he and a couple of the men will remain behind with the white stallion to lure in another wild herd, but are interrupted by Doc's arrival. Hagen knocks Doc out, then orders the last of the trailers to depart. With Danny next to him, Hagen drives the pickup pulling the white stallion, but his escape attempt is hindered when the trailer goes off the road and Danny yanks the steering wheel, forcing them into the creek. Doc revives and gives chase, aided by the escaped white stallion. Hagen drags Danny with him, but they are cornered by the white stallion. Doc and Hagen fight, until Fred and the deputies arrive and arrest the horse thieves. Danny removes the white stallion's halter and the horse races off to the hills, then returns to Danny.
