Synopsis

Bachelor attorney David Sloane attempts to save the unhappy marriage of friend Harry Hunter by making love to Harry's mistress. Assuming that Harry's mistress is his employee Carol Corman, David sets her up in an apartment and promptly proclaims her perfidy. David, however, has selected the wrong woman as the subject of his mission; Harry's real mistress is Muriel Laszlo, Carol's next door neighbor. Nevertheless, Harry, persuaded of Muriel's betrayal, attempts an abortive second honeymoon with his wife, Mary. Meanwhile, Carol and Muriel discover what has happened. Furious, they organize a union of former mistresses and persuade the repentant Harry and distressed David to accept the terms of their contract. Carol further insists that David marry her, with the prerogative of an instant divorce, a condition she elects not to honor after a night of conjugal love.
