Based on the Hasbro action figure G.I. Joe created in 1964.

There have been two G.I. Joe animated television series, "G.I. Joe" (1984-1985/USA) and "G.I. Joe: Extreme" (1995-1997/USA); an animated television special "G.I. Joe: A Real American Hero" (1983/USA); and a feature length animated film "G.I. Joe: The Movie" (1987/USA).

Another G.I. Joe project was set up by Cinecorps and Abrams/Gentile Entertainment with Warner Bros. to distribute, but has been on hold since March 2002.
