Synopsis

Melba was a child living in Jerulsalem, Arkansas in 1932 when her father was killed by lawmen. Now a bitter widow, Melba's mother Sheba moves with her daughter to Long Beach, California and opens a beauty salon. In 1958, Sheba and Melba are behind in their rent and lose the salon. So, along with Melba's pregnant teenage daughter Cheryl, they hit the road, stealing cars and robbing businesses along the way.
