Synopsis

Bound for the town of Prairieville, a group of hearty pioneers, led by John Bradford, begin their long trek across the plains. Meanwhile, in Prairieville, Allen, the head of the Cattlemen's Association, incites the cattlemen to oppose the encroachment of civilization and hires Fletcher to discourage the settlers. Fletcher infiltrates Bradford's train as a scout, and begins to surreptitiously poison the horses. The loss of their stock prompts Ed Cameron to ride to town for fresh stock, and Fletcher offers to accompany him. At the relay post, Blaine and Carter, two of Fletcher's men, bushwack and kill Ed, and afterward, Fletcher returns to the wagon train and reports that Ed jumped him and stole the money. Shortly afterward, Jack Cameron rides into Prairieville to deliver a string of horses to his brother Ed and discovers that Ed has been murdered. After finding evidence that suggests Blaine was involved in the killing, Jack arrests him, turns him over to the sheriff and then rides out to the wagons to complete his brother's mission. Along the trail, Jack and his sidekick Manny are ambushed by members of Fletcher's gang, and after driving away their attackers, Jack finds Ed's gun and realizes that Blaine was not alone in the murder. They then proceed to the relay camp, where Fletcher's men try to steal their horses, but Jack and Manny capture the thieves, and while Manny watches their captives, Jack rides to the wagon train. There, Jack offers to sell Bradford fresh horses, and Fletcher volunteers to accompany him to the herd. As the two men ride out, Fletcher pulls a gun on Jack and takes him to the relay camp. In town, Blaine finally admits to the sheriff that Allen and Fletcher were behind Ed's murder, and the sheriff rounds up a posse to bring them to justice. Back at the relay camp, Jack throws off his bonds and gets the draw on Fletcher and his gang until the sheriff arrives. With the arrest of Allen and his gang, Ed's murder is avenged, and Jack peacefully leads the settlers into the town of Prairieville.
