Synopsis

At the Naples dock, American actor and stuntman Tony Girome is waiting for his sports car to be delivered when he meets young American tourists Lisa and Ann and offers to drive them into the city. Although they refuse him, Tony is determined to win their affection and meets their train in the city. There he convinces them to join him on a trip to Venice, which leads to subsequent tours of Rome and Milan. During their sightseeing, the three learn more about one anothers' pasts. Lisa is disheartened by relationships with men her own age and freely admits to sleeping with older, wealthy men who will provide for her. Social worker Ann is escaping the emotional trauma of a past abortion and now seeks to have a child of her own. Tony, a Vietnam War veteran who narrowly escaped death at the hands of Viet Cong, returned to his Ohio hometown to find his sweetheart had married another. When Tony suddenly leaves on assignment in Spain, Lisa and Ann arrange to meet him on a weekend trip to Pompeii. After viewing erotic art in Pompeii, the three spend an amorous night together. Although promising at first, the arrangement soon upsets Tony. He decides to leave the distraught women, but then returns to have sex after having a change of heart. Their affair is short-lived, however, as the three die tragically when Tony's car veers off a cliff.
