Synopsis

Karen Evans is married to Adam, an arrogant professor. When Karen learns that Adam is having an affair with one of his students, she gets even with him by having her own affair with a young carpenter who works on the campus. Adam is outraged when he finds out about this, but Kate counters that if he can enjoy a dalliance, then she should have the same right. The four of them decide to demonstrate how adult they are about their situation by sharing a house in a Vermont ski resort, but find their liberal attitudes strained by it. And things get even more difficult when the Evans' teenage daughter arrives and confronts them about the arrangement.
