Synopsis

Charlie Hawkins is so busy running his fleet of taxicabs that he leaves his wife, Peggy, alone on their wedding anniversary. Further trouble looms when his union threatens to strike if the wife of an ailing driver is permitted to take her husband's place. The incident gives Peggy the idea of starting a rival taxi chain, Glamcabs, staffed with women drivers garbed in revealing costumes. Peggy keeps her business venture a secret from Charlie and adds insult to injury by financing it with his business profits, which happen to be banked in her name. As Charlie's competition increases, he declares all-out war and even resorts to having his manager, Ted Watson, disguise himself as a Glamcab driver. The ruse is discovered, and the battle rages on until Charlie learns the identity of his rival. Peggy's victory turns out to be a hollow one, however, when Charlie's ego is totally destroyed. But a reconciliation is effected when the Glamcabs are hijacked and Charlie's drivers race to the rescue. After the hijackers are captured, Charlie learns that he may soon have to change the name of his business to "Hawkins & Son."
