Synopsis

Dr. Peter Corrie and his assistant, Frank Shears, investigate an airplane accident near their laboratory. They take the only survivor inside, remove his brain when his heart stops beating, and keep it alive in an experimental solution. The brain, which belonged to ruthless tycoon Max Holt, soon begins to take control of Dr. Corrie's mind. At Holt's funeral Corrie meets the dead man's daughter, Anna; his rebellious son, Martin; and his unethical lawyer, Stevenson. Corrie suspects that Holt was murdered, and under the strange hypnotic influence of the brain he searches for the killer. He encounters Holt's mistress, Marion Fare, and his chauffeur, Gable; and when Gable is murdered, Corrie is framed by Holt's associates. Controlled by the brain, Corrie almost murders a man, but Shears is able to stop him by removing the brain from the solution. Corrie later discovers that Anna killed her father because of his monopoly of a new drug.
