Synopsis
Ken Lanning is Wally Thompson's adopted brother, and they are always in competition for attention. When the neighboring cattlemen find out that their land has been bought by homesteading sheepherders, they vow to fight them. Ken and Wally convince sheepman Winters and his daughter Judy to lead their animals around the town and onto their own land to avoid a confrontation. Furious at his sons, Winchester Thompson sends Butch Martin and his men to persuade Winters to move, and Butch kills Winters. Judy gets the bad news while she is at a dance with Ken, whose father invites her to stay with them. While at the ranch, both of the brothers romance Judy. Wally gets the most time with her by outwitting Ken. One day, Ken hears a rumor that his father killed Winters, and while he confronts him, Judy overhears part of the conversation in which Thompson admits to sending Butch to ask Winters to move. Unfortunately, she leaves before he says that Butch killed her father on his own initiative, and stays with other sheepherders. Ken convinces her that he killed her father and that she must return to the ranch to be with Thompson and Wally, who is distraught by her absence. Ken finds Wally drunk at a bar, and thinking Ken intends to steal Judy from him, Wally shoots him in the arm. He then rides off with Butch to harass the sheepherders, but decides against it at the last minute. After Butch shoots Wally for backing out, Ken shoots Butch, just in time for the sheriff to make his arrest. Wally then makes peace with Ken by telling him that Judy wants to marry him.
