Synopsis
One of the new recruits at Fort Bragg, home of the 82nd Airborne Division, is Pvt. Eddie Slocum, a guitar-playing Indiana farm boy. During his 3 weeks training at jump school, he runs afoul of Pvt. Rocky Layman, a bullying braggart jealous of the attention Eddie gets from local beauty Jenny May. Following practice leaps from a high tower, the recruits make their first jump from an airplane. As Eddie floats toward the earth, he spots Rocky's chute drifting close to his own. Although he screams a warning, Rocky fails to hear it and his body becomes entangled in Eddie's chute lines. When his parachute collapses, Rocky crawls down the ropes until Eddie is able to grab him. The youngster holds on to his former enemy until they reach the ground. His brush with death effects a deep change in Rocky, and he apologizes for his past behavior.
