Synopsis

At a black variety show, master of ceremonies "Peanut Head" Jackson introduces Dizzy Gillespie and His Orchestra. The show features the talent of many "bebop" jazz musicians and several dancers. After the first number, Dizzy and the emcee tell jokes until singer Helen Humes, joining in the fun and pretending to be Peanut Head's wife, interrupts them and sings a song. Dizzy's orchestra provides the musical accompaniment for all the specialty acts to follow, including dance numbers performed by Johnny and Henny, Daisy Richardson, Sahji, Ralph Brown, Ray Sneed and Phil and Audrey. The show also features the talent of singers Helen Humes, Kenny "Pancho" Hagood and Dolores Brown.
