Synopsis

Herr Buchsbaum, a mild-mannered revenue officer whose world revolves around his stamp collecting hobby, is terrorized by a dictatorial supervisor at work. His life is further troubled when his new neighbor disturbs his peace at home by giving piano lessons. He encounters an old professor who tells him that the only thing to do when one is "up against a wall" is to walk through it. Taking the advice literally, Buchsbaum finds that he can walk through walls. Using this power, he drives his supervisor crazy and soon becomes the department head. Then he discovers that his piano-playing neighbor is an attractive widow named Yvonne Steiner, and he falls in love with her. Having no more walls to walk through, he loses his power and settles for his newfound happiness.
