Synopsis
With his wife and children at the seashore during the month of August, department store clerk Henri Plantin is left alone in Paris. At a cafe he meets Patricia Seagrave, a young Englishwoman who claims to be a fashion model; she asks him directions to the Panthéon, and soon he becomes her guide, pretending to be a famous artist. After a night spent wandering through the streets of Paris, Patricia disappears, but Henri eventually finds her. Their reunion is marred by the presence of Patricia's boss, Peter, who maliciously reminds her of the broken love affair that she has just experienced in England. Despite Peter's intrusion and her initial reluctance to repeat a past mistake, Patricia falls in love with Henri, and they spend all of their time in his apartment, which has been converted to resemble an artist's studio. Even Henri's confession that he is not a painter and Patricia's that she is not a fashion model do not spoil their bliss. When the time comes for Patricia to leave for London, Henri at first decides to accompany her, but his family returns from their vacation, and he decides to rejoin them.
