Synopsis

Dr. Foster, a marriage counselor, gives advice to Ruth Turner, who is frigid, and to Barbara Reed, whose husband is impotent. During therapy Foster recalls the related 1950 case history of newlywed Evelyn Brown, who deserted groom Bill Burke immediately after their elopement and was seen by Dr. Donald Andrews after a suicide attempt. The child of separated parents, the bride was diagnosed as excessively dependent on her domineering hypochondriac mother. Through therapy Evelyn was enabled to break the maternal bonds and return to her husband.
