Synopsis

Paul Carver, obsessed with the thought that he might have been responsible for the death of his wife and children in an automobile accident, is awakened from a nightmare by a fellow airplane passenger, archeologist Gunther, who invites Carver to visit him in Morocco. He arrives at Gunther's home in the midst of a party celebrating the discovery of some ancient tombs by Gunther's assistant, Leclerc. There Carver encounters Marisa, a beautiful apparition who lures him into following her to a magnificent Moorish palace where she tries to seduce him. The next morning, Gunther and his adopted daughter, Chantal, find Carver unconscious at the site of a ruin that is haunted by a vampire who is revealed to be Marisa. Chantal tries to save Carver from the vampire's influence, but she is captured by Omar, one of Marisa's servants, and left in the desert to die. Carver must choose between Chantal and Marisa, and he decides to save Chantal, even though it means driving a stake through the heart of the vision he loves.
