Synopsis
Timid Joe Calvet is fired from his job in a department store due to his nearsightedness and decides to go to a movie. He sits next to Slim, a gangster, and by mistake takes Slim's coat when he leaves the theater. In the subway, he reaches for his glasses but pulls out Slim's gun instead and is arrested by the police who believe him to be Public Enemy No. 1. Slim's gang, headed by Lola, rescues Joe and takes him to their farm hideout. Joe later leads the police to the hideout; there the gang is apprehended, and Joe becomes a national hero.
