Synopsis

When Clinton Reynolds, a wealthy manufacturer, is responsible for the death of Bill Bernton, one of his workers, he takes in the man's orphaned daughter Rose, because his own child, Arthur, recently was kidnapped and apparently killed. Despite Reynolds' kindness, Rose vows revenge, and so, years later, she seduces her foster father in order to ruin his marriage. Then Arthur, who had managed to survive his kidnapping, finds his mother Laura and learns about her separation from Reynolds and about his father's affair with Rose. Arthur then decides to begin his own affair with Rose in order to make her leave Reynolds. Finally, he seduces her, and when Reynolds finds out he quickly comes to his senses. Realizing that he has always loved his wife, he makes up with her immediately, after which Arthur abruptly repudiates Rose.
