Synopsis

Fresh from having been a rajah's kept woman, American adventuress Zoe Trevor marries Craig Pitcairn. Soon, however, she comes to consider herself unworthy of him because of her less than scrupulous past, and she is convinced that her cousin's daughter Edith would make a much better match for him. As a result, Zoe arranges a mock accidental death for herself. Most people, however, suspect murder, and a mob soon forms to lynch Craig. Just as they are about to hang him, Zoe, who has heard of the trouble, leaves her hideout and appears before the crowd, thereby clearing Craig of the murder charge. Craig then tells her that he has neither an interest in her past, nor in Edith, so he and Zoe resume their life together as husband and wife.
