Synopsis

Parvenue Ichabod Boggs, the pickle king of America, assumes aristocratic airs and attempts to climb his way into society by insisting that his Harvard-educated son Monte marry a member of the English gentry. Angered at his father's values, Monte leaves home and marries Hazel, a showgirl. With Hazel's $5000 inheritance, the newlyweds corner the vinegar market, an ingredient that Ichabod needs for his pickles. Hazel agrees to sell the vinegar to her father-in-law for $60,000, and when Ichabod realizes the ingenuity of his daughter-in-law, the pickle king abandons his notions about aristocracy and blesses his son's marriage.
