Synopsis
Italian immigrant Naneta finds a baby at her tenement and takes care of it, then asks writer Donald White, who frequents the restaurant where she works, to read the note pinned to the child. The note explains that the baby is illegitimate. The police arrest Naneta for kidnapping, but she refuses to clear herself by detailing the baby's origins because she herself had been illegitimate, and does not want the baby so labeled. Finally, Donald comes to the authorities and explains everything, and then, to Naneta's delight, he proposes to her, and the couple decides to adopt the baby.
