Synopsis
Cowboy Billy Fortune is in love with Hope Beecher, who prefers Billy's friend Ben Morgan, but resists his advances because of his fondness for drink. Hope's discontent is echoed by the town wives' public outcry against drink. To divert their interest, Billy is nominated to make love to their leader, widow Fay Bittinger, who has already disposed of four husbands. Failing at this task, Billy concludes that better results would occur if the men made club members jealous by converting the saloon into a soda fountain with pretty waitresses to serve soft drinks. His scheme has its desired effect, but Hope remains adamant in her demands for Morgan's reform. One day when the local mine explodes, Billy sobers his friend up and Morgan works so tirelessly to save the miners that he is finally able to renounce alcohol. Having thus solved all the town's problems, including saving Hope's sister Martha from hypocritical prohibitionist Arthur Gunther, Billy takes his father's advice to seek for a new sweetheart elsewhere.
